Power flushing in Dublin
Clearing years of sludge and rust out of a heating system, so your boiler is not working against itself.
What a power flush actually does
Over the years, the water going round your radiators picks up rust, scale and sludge. It collects in the bottom of radiators and in the pipework, and it slowly chokes the system. A power flush pumps a cleaning solution through everything at speed, lifts the debris out, and refills the system clean.
It is not a magic fix for every heating problem, and we will tell you if it is not what your system needs. But where a system is genuinely sludged up, nothing else will sort it.
Signs your system may need one
- Radiators cold at the bottom, warm at the top
- Some radiators never get hot at all
- The system takes a long time to warm up
- Banging or knocking from the boiler
- Dirty black water when you bleed a radiator
- Boiler cutting out for no obvious reason
- Pipework noisy when the heating fires
- Heating bills creeping up without explanation
Cold at the top usually means something else
A radiator that is cold at the top and warm at the bottom is normally just trapped air, and bleeding it will sort it. It is the other way round β cold at the bottom β that points to sludge. Worth checking before you ring anyone.
Why it matters for your boiler
Sludge does not just make radiators cold. It circulates through the boiler itself, and modern boilers have narrow waterways that block far more easily than the old cast iron ones did. That means a sludged system shortens the life of an expensive appliance.
It is also why we fit a magnetic system filter as standard on every boiler we install β it catches the debris before it reaches the boiler. See our boiler replacement page for what else is included.
Putting in a new boiler?
If your existing system is heavily sludged, flushing it before the new boiler goes in protects your investment β and some manufacturer warranties expect the system to be clean. We will assess it during the free quote rather than selling you a flush you do not need.
What it costs
It depends on the number of radiators and the state of the system, so we price it per job rather than quoting a figure that would be wrong for half the houses we go to. Ring us on 01 6991196 and we will talk it through.
