Every boiler should be serviced yearly. With a Vogue there is a second reason on top of the usual ones: the 12 year warranty depends on it, and that is a lot of cover to let slip for the sake of a missed appointment.

Why it matters more on a Vogue

A Vogue carries two years more cover than almost anything else on the market. That is one of the main reasons people choose it — and it comes with a condition attached, which is that the boiler is serviced every year and the service is recorded.

Skip a year and a manufacturer is entitled to decline a warranty claim. It is not a technicality they ignore; it is the first thing checked when a claim is made. The hard version of this conversation happens at year eight, when something expensive fails and the service history has a gap in it.

What your Vogue service includes

Safety first, every time. These are the checks that matter most:

• Carbon monoxide safety check
• Gas burning safely & correctly
• Flue venting properly to outside
• Ventilation & air supply checked
• Gas soundness of appliance checked
• Safety cut-off tested

Then the condition and performance side:

• Full inspection of the casing and internal components
• Burner cleaning (when needed)
• Controls tested
• System pressure checked and topped up if needed
• The Ideal system filter cleaned out
• Service recorded, so your warranty history stays intact

We service Vogues we did not install

You do not need to have bought the boiler from us. Plenty of the Vogues we look after were fitted by somebody else — a builder's installer on a new build, or a firm the customer has since lost touch with.

The service is the same €110, we record it properly so your warranty history is continuous, and we will tell you straight if we find anything the original installation got wrong.

When to get it done

Pick a month and keep to it. Most people go for late summer or early autumn, which is sensible for two reasons: you find out in September that something needs fixing rather than on the first freezing night in December, and we are not yet into the stretch where everyone rings at once.

If yours is already overdue, it is not a crisis — ring us and we will get it back on track. The gap matters for the warranty, so the sooner the better.

Signs it needs looking at sooner

• Pressure dropping and needing topped up repeatedly
• A fault code on the display that keeps returning
• Radiators cold at the bottom, or needing bled often
• Banging, kettling or gurgling noises from the boiler
• Hot water that runs warm rather than hot
• Any smell of gas — in which case ring the gas emergency line first, not us
