Ideal Vogue boiler installation in Dublin
Ideal's premium boiler, with a stainless steel heat exchanger and a 12 year warranty.
The Vogue sits at the top of Ideal's domestic range. It is the boiler we fit when someone is staying put and wants the longest life and the longest warranty they can get — and it is the only one we fit that carries 12 years.
About the Ideal Vogue
The Ideal Vogue, shown with the Ideal system filter that comes with it
Ideal are the biggest name in Irish boilers, and the Logic Max is the model most Irish homes end up with. The Vogue is the step above it: the same manufacturer and the same support network, built to a higher specification throughout.
The differences are real rather than cosmetic, and they are mostly in the parts you never see.
What the extra actually buys you
A stainless steel heat exchanger
The single biggest difference. The Logic Max uses an aluminium alloy exchanger, which is perfectly good. Stainless steel stands up better to the acidic condensate a modern boiler produces, which is what tends to decide how long a heat exchanger lasts.
A 12 year warranty
Two years beyond the Logic Max and the Worcester Bosch 4000, both of which carry 10. On a boiler you expect to keep for fifteen years, that is a meaningful stretch of cover.
Noticeably quieter
Heavier insulation in the casing, which you hear — or rather do not — when the boiler is ticking over at low output. Worth real money if it is going in a kitchen, a hall press or anywhere near a bedroom.
System filter included
The Ideal system filter comes with it and we fit it as part of the installation, along with inhibitor. Both protect the boiler, and both are included in our price rather than added on.
Our honest view on Vogue versus Logic Max
The Logic Max is an excellent boiler and it is what most houses should have. It does nearly everything the Vogue does for €650 less, and we fit a great many of them with no reservations whatever.
The Vogue earns its money in specific situations: you are staying in the house long term, the boiler sits somewhere you will hear it, or you simply want the longest warranty available and the better heat exchanger behind it. If none of those apply to you, we will tell you the Logic Max is the sensible buy — and we would rather say that than sell you up.
Which size will you need?
The Vogue comes as a combi in 26kW, 32kW and 40kW, and as a system boiler for homes with a hot water cylinder. There is an Ireland-specific version, and LPG conversion is available across the sizes.
- 26kW combi — a typical 2 to 3 bedroom house with one bathroom
- 32kW combi — 3 to 4 bedrooms, or a second bathroom in regular use
- 40kW combi — larger homes, or where two showers may run at once
- System version — where you are keeping a hot water cylinder rather than going combi
Sizing is not a case of bigger being better. An oversized boiler cycles on and off, which wastes gas and wears components. We size it against the house and the hot water demand rather than guessing from the bedroom count. If you are weighing combi against keeping a cylinder, our combi boiler guide covers the trade-off.
The 12 year warranty, and what keeps it
The warranty is registered in your name after installation. Two conditions keep it alive, and both are worth knowing before you buy rather than after:
- It must be registered shortly after installation — we handle that for you
- The boiler must be serviced every year, and the servicing recorded
Miss a service and you can lose the warranty
This is the one that catches people. A 12 year warranty is only worth 12 years if the annual service is actually done — skip a year and a manufacturer is entitled to decline a claim, which is a hard lesson at year eight.
We service Vogues for €110 and keep the record, so the warranty stands. It is the cheapest insurance on a boiler of this value.
What is involved in your installation
- Free assessment. We look at the existing system, the gas supply, the flue route and where the boiler is going.
- A written price. Everything included, so the figure you agree is the figure you pay.
- Old boiler removed safely and disposed of responsibly.
- Vogue installed by a Registered Gas Installer, to I.S. 813.
- Filter fitted, inhibitor added, system balanced and controls set.
- Tested, certified and registered. Full RGI certification, and your warranty registered in your name.
In most houses this is a single day's work, and you have heat and hot water that evening.
What can change the price
The €3,650 guide figure covers a straightforward replacement in a typical 2 to 3 bedroom house. What moves it is usually the state of what is already there, and what is needed to bring the installation up to standard:
- Moving the boiler to a different position
- Flue routing and length
- Condensate drainage
- Upgrading old or undersized gas pipework
- Ventilation work to meet I.S. 813
- Earth bonding upgrade
- Carbon monoxide alarms
- New heating controls
- A power flush if the system is heavily sludged
- Changing boiler type, for example system to combi
Each of those is explained properly on our boiler cost page, including why a cheaper quote is usually a quote with something left out.
